The fans were pumped, cheering us on every step of the way and I had my family in town from Kentucky cheering us on too. My battle against Simon Olsen was intense going OMT – we were neck and neck until I tapped the wall and he took the win this time. Event Recap – 2024 FD Rd 4 Englishtown, NJ

Event Results Formula Drift Englishtown RD 4:

“Jersey was a huge success for our team! We took over the FD Instagram account and brought the heat, sharing behind-the-scenes peeks at our prep work, pit stops with other drivers, and of course, the drifting itself. And the fans loved it – our social media reach and engagement was through the roof, with FD’s Instagram reach at 658.4K during the event with 1.8 Million followers.

It was also our first time hosting our Title Sponsor Evol Auto Works at an East Coast FD event and their team had an epic time. We also got to spend time with Kumho Tire team who literally had the best seats in the crowd with their own massive VIP Box Suite. One of my highlights of the event was…we got to film an episode of “Under the Hood” with FD, which will exclusively feature our team with an in depth insider view on our team and car during the Rd 4 event. The episode will debut on Formula Drift’s YouTube Channel next week and at STL, so stay tuned! I had a blast in Top 16 battling against Adam LZ, we held our own with some minor mistakes ultimately taking us out. Thanks to our amazing team, sponsors, and fans for their support. For Long Beach, it was based on the 2023 Championship standings. But moving forward, the ranking for Round 2 will be based on the finishing results from Round 1, and so on.

Welcome Kumho Tire USA

The Jeff Jones Racing team is excited to welcome Kumho Tire USA to our program for the 2024 Formula Drift PRO Championship Season.

Press Release from Formula Drift
KUMHO TIRE U.S.A. ANNOUNCES MOTORSPORT SPONSORSHIP BECOMING AN OFFICIAL TIRE OF FORMULA DRIFT

Making its first foray into the ultra-high performance tire series, Kumho Tire U.S.A. will utilize the sponsorship to showcase the brand’s technology and leadership in the ultra-high performance space.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, April 4, 2024 – Kumho Tire U.S.A., one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers, announced today its motorsports sponsorship, becoming an Official Tire of Formula DRIFT as a major sponsor of the Formula DRIFT PRO Championship. The sponsorship represents the company’s plans to invigorate its marketing efforts to elevate the brand’s awareness in the United States and showcase its product technology through the ultra-high performance tire series.

“As an ‘Official Tire of Formula DRIFT,’ this will provide a national footprint to elevate the brand in the United States, reaching millions of motorsport enthusiasts,” said Shawn Denlein, president of sales and marketing, Kumho Tire U.S.A. “We manufacture some of the best tires in the world and are showcasing the quality and capabilities of our ultra-high performance tires under the most intense and grueling environments that the Formula DRIFT platform provides.”

As part of the sponsorship, Kumho Tire will receive a significant footprint at each of the eight Formula DRIFT events in the 2024 series, including track signage and activation during race weekends. In addition, Kumho Tire will also have a major presence on the race broadcast and through Formula DRIFT’s digital marketing.

“Partnering with Formula DRIFT provides an incredible opportunity to drive awareness of the Kumho Tire brand with this young, loyal, engaged and growing motorsports community,” said Jessica Egerton, vice president of marketing at Kumho Tire U.S.A. “Further, it provides an incredible opportunity to connect with our retail partners around the country to drive sales growth.”

Entering its 21st season, Formula DRIFT is the fastest-growing motorsport in the world, with more than 85% of fans between the ages of 18 to 44, making it the number one motorsport in the United States for millennial and Gen Z generations, according to Formula DRIFT. The series has seen exponential growth in attendance, and viewership boasting approximately 5 million followers on social media.

“We’re excited to welcome Kumho Tire U.S.A. to the Formula DRIFT family in 2024 and beyond. At this stage in the Formula DRIFT Championship, tires have never been as important as they are now and there is only a small select group of manufacturers who are willing to put their tires to the test at this level. Kumho has stepped up to take on that challenge. From what I can see in pre-season testing and from their existing pedigree, Kumho is sure to make a huge impact on the Championship this year and moving forward,” said Ryan Sage, President of Formula DRIFT.

The 2024 Formula DRIFT schedule consists of eight races in major markets across the United States. The races are broadcast live on multi-platform distribution across Facebook and YouTube.

2024 Formula DRIFT Schedule:

April 12-13 – Long Beach, California
May 9-11 – Atlanta, Georgia
May 31-June 1 – Orlando, Florida

August 9-10 – Seattle, Washington

Event Recap – 2023 FD Rd 8 Irwindale, CA & SEMA

Season Recap – 2023 FD Rd 8 Irwindale & SEMA Fest

In the season finale of the 2023 Formula Drift (Round 8 Irwindale), Jeff Jones faced a challenging qualifying session that positioned him at 19th place (P19). This set the stage for an intense Top 32 battle against Brandon Sorensen (P14).

Jeff, known for his relentlessness and skill on the track, entered the Top 32 battle in his Evol Auto Works Prisma Labs Nissan 370z determined to showcase his abilities. In a thrilling showdown, Jeff put up a hard fight against Sorensen, displaying precision and control at this epic house of drifting track.

The battle between Jeff and Brandon was nothing short of gripping, with both drivers pushing their limits. Jeff delivered a strong performance, matching Sorensen’s skill move for move. However, in the end, Sorensen managed to secure the win, edging out Jeff to move forward.

While Jeff’s run came to an end at the Top 32, his determination and competitive spirit were evident throughout the battle against Sorensen. Despite the outcome, Jeff Jones Racing continues to showcase resilience, learning from each round to further refine the teams skills and strategies.

We experienced remarkable fan engagement throughout the season, making significant connections with drift enthusiasts. During the half time break, the team had a blast with all the fans during meet-and-greets and our final raffle giveaway of the season. We gave away our custom NRG Steering wheel, a $250 gift card to Evol Auto Works, doc merch packs, Big Drift Energy merch and tons of GT Radial swag.

A standout moment this month was the team’s participation in the SEMA Fest drift demo held in Las Vegas on November 3-4. This epic demo event not only showcased the team’s skill on the track but also provided a platform for direct interaction with fans, creating unforgettable experiences within the drifting world.

At SEMA Fest, fans witnessed Jeff’s passion for keeping it fun firsthand, generating excitement and leaving a lasting impression. The team engaged with fans, offering behind-the-scenes glimpses into their preparation and signing autographs all while some major bands like Bush, Wiz Khalifa, Incubus and Imagine Dragons performed.

Another Sema highlight was the SEMA Week Drift Social hosted HOTPIT Autofest which brought the drift community for an epic party, capped off by an impromptu performance from Hert and T-Pain, adding such an unforgettable moment to the event.

To our partners, we deeply appreciate your unwavering support throughout the 2023 season. Your invaluable contributions have played a pivotal role in our journey, providing essential resources, expertise, and support that have helped navigate the challenges faced during our competition. The team extends heartfelt gratitude to each sponsor for their commitment, believing that your partnership has been instrumental in pushing the boundaries of performance and innovation. The support from passionate fans and dedicated sponsors continues to be a driving force behind the Jeff Jones Racing program. The team remains committed to our goal of taking the team to the podium again and again, engaging with fans, and continuing to push the limits of drifting, which is all made possible through the backing of our enthusiastic supporters and our partners.

As the 2023 season draws to a close, this season was a testament to skill, innovation, and perseverance, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what the team will bring to the track in 2024. We stand tall with a collection of 15 seasons of FD achievements, lessons learned, and an eye towards the future. We faced some unfortunate mechanical struggles this season that affected our overall standings and performance on the track but these challenges fueled the team’s determination to bounce back stronger than ever. The team is already gearing up for an electrifying comeback in 2024 season. Stay tuned for off-season content and news, promising updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses into the prep for the 2024. The countdown has begun for an epic 2024 season ahead!

Event Recap – 2023 FD Rd 7 Grantsville, UT

Event Recap FD “Elevated” Rd 7:

“We had a battle on our hands getting to Utah. With the engine needing rebuilding after Seattle, we were up against a heavy timeline. We hit the ground running once we got back from Seattle and had a solid plan in place but while the motor was getting refreshed we got word that a critical part we needed would be delayed, meaning our motor would not be ready in time. So after some team brainstorming, a Plan B went into full force. We pulled the motor out of our demo car, put it in the PRO car and installed the Harrop supercharger. After tuning, we were strong and dialed but we were about 200hp down and a bit heavier as this motor is an iron block vs aluminum. On to Utah we went!

I was excited going back to Utah for the second time. Last year, we qualified with a 90 in10th place. My lead laps were pretty strong. I was having a bit of struggle in the chase visually as the added outside zone made for a tough line to follow and that put all chase drivers right in the smoke line. I felt pretty good about my qualifying run this year. I had only gotten an 80 but it turns out that it was high enough to put us in 12th position. By the time the main show came around, I was feeling pretty good about the chase laps. I went up against Jhonnattan Castro in Top 32, for the third time this year, we had a great battle on both sides, but he just edged me out with two judges voting for him, and one judge voting for myself (livestream link here). All in all of this is becoming one of my new favorite tracks, the high speed entry is definitely really fun for a driver.”

Jeff Jones Racing is now tied for 28th Place going into Rd 8 Irwindale this month.

Event Recap – 2023 FD Rd 6 Seattle, WA

Event Recap FD “Throw Down” Rd 6:

“Evergreen Speedway has got to be one of my Top 3 favorite tracks next to Irwindale and Atlanta. Something was in the air this year because it seemed like everyone was just having an absolute blast. The paddocks were absolutely full of fans and they were happy to see us come up Washington…which is what makes it even more unfortunate that we blew a hole in piston #5 and lost our engine just before qualifying.

I can’t sugar coat how much this hurts us in the points. The car was feeling absolutely amazing during practice, running about 90 miles an hour wide-open on the bank with 150 mile an hour wheel speed. The engine popped at the end of Outer Zone 4 causing nice sized fire in the engine bay. I’ve been on fire before, so I knew if I jammed it straight to the fire truck to get them to see me on fire it was the quickest chance to put it out rather than parking and waiting for them to come to me. (See video here)

All in all, not the outcome we wanted but another great weekend racing with the fans. I was signing some autographs while the engine was sitting on the floor later that day and a fan said, Hey I’m really sorry that happened – I replied it’s all good bud, any day racing is another great day. Time to rebuild and come back swinging.

Thank you to all of you that work with us and continue to push our program through. We’ve already got the engine getting rebuilt as we speak and we will be ready to kick some butt in Utah.”
